What is Micro-needling? Q&A

What is Micro-needling ?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that creates multiple superficial puncture wounds, releasing growth factors that stimulate fibroblasts creating new collagen and elastin. It is our collagen and elastin that keeps our skin plump and youthful.

Does Micro-needling work?

Yes!

It achieves results through increased quantities of skin cell nutrients to the skin through product absorption optimising cell function.

Injury to the keratinocytes promotes epidermal growth factors which increases cell turnover to reveal new healthy skin.

Tiny open micro channels created by the treatment allow up to 80% more product into the skin in comparison to just 7-10% with normal topical application of creams.

What is collagen and why is it so important?

Collagen is a protein made up of carbon, oxygen and hydrogen

Collagen makes up 30% of our bodies protein

Collagen provides suppleness, firmness and hydration .

As we age our collagen depletes. Hence the importance of looking after our skin with a positive lifestyle, good diet, sleeping well, exercising, protecting it using spf, using correct topical skincare and increasing new cell formation through professional treatments such as Micro-needling.

Does Micro needling hurt?

There is minimal discomfort and minimal/no side effects or downtime.  You are able to resume your daily tasks as normal.

Please take the time to read the aftercare question and answers.

How many sessions of Micro-needling do I need to see results?
